10 SG private estates to enjoy $29 million upgrade, including Normanton Park estate

Sep 1

Upgrade works are included in the 10th batch under the Estate Upgrading Programme.

MND released that works in the past included improving access barriers, lighting footpaths to increase security and safety, landscaping the estates, and enhancing the estate's identity.

Upgrade works can be integrated with other agencies' improvement works, such as drainage upgrades and coverage by PUB.

MND has spent $187 million since 2000 on upgrading private estates.

Over 46,800 households were able to benefit from the EUP's nine previous batches. This includes 63 private estates include Normanton Park estate. MND anticipates that over 7000 households will benefit from the new facilities in the 10th batch once the upgrading works are complete in approximately four to five years.

MND stated that the EUP had helped to revitalize many private estates in Singapore, to meet residents' needs, and promote community bonding.

"The EUP process will see the Neighbourhood Committees and Citizens Consultative Committees (CCCs), seek inputs and feedback from residents to include their views in the upgrading decisions.

This is done to make sure that residents have access to the upgrades and give the community more ownership of the estates' common areas.
